VERNISSAGE DE L’EXPOSITION “NEW DREAMS” DE BEN & SARA
Friday 9 October at 6.00 pm > Opening of the “New Dreams” photography exhibition by Ben & Sara
From Saturday 10 October to Thursday 31 December, 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm > “New Dreams” by Ben & Sara.
To bring this exhibition season to a close, the Collections de Saint-Cyprien are once again joining forces with gallery owner Roger Castang (Castang Art Project) to present “New Dreams”, a retrospective and forward-looking exploration of the work of Ben & Sara.
Having developed a photographic style based on staged scenes for over twelve years, the duo offers an incisive reflection on the mythologies and upheavals of our contemporary societies. “New Dreams” examines our collective and individual trajectories, oscillating between ironic disjunction, dystopian tension and allegorical escapism.
The exhibition brings together a body of work comprising five series centred on the transformations in our ways of life: consumerist urbanity in *Le centre des loisirs* (2015), which explores shopping centres as theatres of leisure; the technological and discursive shift through *Start Up Nation* (2019), an in-depth analysis of the digital imperative; the distortion of life and rituals in *À Table!* (2026), centred on the agri-food industry and ultra-processed food; and the anxiety about the future in *L’espoir est délicieux* (2026), which examines our horizons of uncertainty.
As a counterpoint, their contemporary reinterpretation of the medieval masterpiece *La Dame à la licorne* (2023) sketches out a journey of initiation, reviving the tapestries’ sensory and symbolic significance to reintroduce a possibility of hope in the face of the world’s disenchantment.
