A trip to the Mediterranean in miniature!
In this original workshop, artist Michelle GAYRAL invites children to paint a Catalan boat – a symbol of the local maritime heritage – on an unexpected medium: a camembert tin.
The workshop begins with an introduction to traditional Catalan boats, their colourful shapes and their reflections in the water, through a few images and discussions.
Then it’s time to get creative: on the circular surface of the lid, each child creates their own maritime scene – boat, sea, sky, light – experimenting with acrylic paint or mixed media.
Participants will learn to play with Mediterranean colours (blues, ochres, whites, reds) and to pay attention to detail to make their boat float in an imaginary landscape.
